A practitioner of tyromancy is adept at reading omens found in cheese. Everything from holes in cheese slices, patterns within the mold, smell, and texture is a portent waiting to be revealed. Use of this skill requires at least 1 pound of cheese, which must be cut or broken in half and examined.
Knowledge (tyromancy)
(Int; Trained Only)
A practitioner of tyromancy is adept at reading omens found in cheese. Everything from holes in cheese slices, patterns within the mold, smell, and texture is a portent waiting to be revealed. Use of this skill requires at least 1 pound of cheese, which must be cut or broken in half and examined.
Basic Use
A successful DC 15 Knowledge (tyromancy) roll grants the practitioner, or another the practitioner is counseling, a +1 circumstance bonus to their next Knowledge skill roll or Will saving throw. If the roll succeeds by 5 or more this bonus increases to +2.
Special
A practitioner of tyromancy can use a pound of cheese as an additional material component when casting divination spells. Doing so requires a Knowledge (tyromancy) roll (DC 10 + spell level). If successful, the practitioner's caster level is considered 2 levels higher for the purpose of determining the divination spell effect.
Modifiers
High quality cheeses grant a +5 bonus to Knowledge (tyromancy) skill checks.
Low quality cheeses inflict a -5 penalty to Knowledge (tyromancy) skill checks.
