In the Footsteps of Hercules was created as a specific example of a Pilgrimage Trail, one of the 85 general sorts of places that appear in Skirmisher Publishing's Adamantine-bestselling City Builder: A Guide to Designing Communities. As written, this trail is dedicated to the titular demigod and is set in a Dark Ages fantasy version of Greece and located within the company’s Swords of Kos Fantasy Campaign Setting.

Shown below are handout versions of six maps by William T. Thrasher, depicting places that appear in “In the Footsteps of Hercules,” the town of Tiryns, the Asclepion of Lerna hospital, the Sanctuary of Ares Stymphalus, the Baths of Nemea, the Cave of the Tables of Knowledge, and Megalos Ellada, a large farm near Olympia that has become a popular stop for pilgrims. Keyed versions of all of them appear in the sourcebook.

Shown above is a full-color version of the map that accompanies the entry for the Baths of Nemea, one of the places described in "In the Footsteps of Hercules"!

This handout map is for the Asclepion of Lerna, a small hospital located near the place where Hercules slew the fearsome Hydra. A fully-keyed version of it appears in the In the Footsteps of Hercules universal sourcebook.

This handout map is for the Shrine of Ares Stymphalus, a holy site dedicated to an esoteric aspect of the war god that is located in the lake where Hercules battled a flock of dangerous birds. A fully-keyed version of it appears in In the Footsteps of Hercules.

This handout map is for the Baths of Nemea, a place on the Footsteps of Hercules trail where pilgrims can relax and deal with their aches and pains. A fully-keyed version of it appears in In the Footsteps of Hercules.

This handout map is for Megalos Ellada, a large farm near Olympia that holds monthly festivals dedicated to Hercules where pilgrims can votively recreate three of the demigod’s labors.
